It’s been a tiny bit damp in sheffield today, or rather, it won’t stop freaking raining!

Rain rain rain, and more foookin rain. And now the weathers gone and done it and started causing deaths, which just ain’t on. People get angry when that happens and they may start shooting the clouds or something, just to show em.

I didn’t get a chance to take any photo’s before the sun went to bed, but if you search flickr for sheffield and photo’s taken today you’ll get the general idea.

It’s crazy really, sheffield seems to have taken the brunt of the rain and it’s all over the news.

Eddie went for a walk close to the park down the road and the area is covered in police and fire crews, and they’ve got dingy’s out. Millhouses park it pretty much covered in water and they’ve closed it off, which Eddie wasn’t happy about and made a bit of a fuss.

It was today that that I had to see my therapist and she was all giddy and a bit weirded out because half of her garden has collapsed, it was on the side of a muddy cliff type affair (I’m sure theres a word for that) and I guess all the rain made it unstable.

This is the age of software trying to update itself regulatory in a way that is un-obtrusive but not quite managing it.

Yesterday I go see This is England, a film about skin’eds in the thatcher 80’s. How the scene wasn’t necessarily about racism, but how it got swept up, naively. There are a lot of messages to take from it, but above all it was just a freaking immersive piece of work with acting that completely blew me away.

It’s also the second film Shane Meadows has made with help from Warp Films, a fairly recent offshoot of Warp Records, who I’ve probably mentioned tons of times on here, but the basics is that they started out in Sheffield as a simple record shop down Devonshire Green way. I guess I feel a bit of Sheffield pride there, which is ironic considering the films message.

Warp Films have also set up Warp X. A pure digital film production unit right here in sheffield for film makers on a tight budget. It’s pretty cool because they have funding from channel 4 / fourfilms, and any film made there will get first digs for TV broadcast on C4. Amd from the looks of their mission statement it might be just the thing to kick the Britsh film industry into action.

Hmm, my WP spellchecker hasn’t worked since my site was restored.

Well we thought we’d do a very bizarre route today, it’s odd because it snakes around Sheffield City Centre, not very country. Anyway, got some nice photo’s of the place en route.

It was a bittersweet walk for Eddie, the urban sites and sounds were interesting for him, but through the people busy thoroughfare’s (and the sales are on) he got a bit stressed out and went into this odd clearing-his-nose fit that he does when he’s really freaked out. Actually, speaking of this, can any vet’s explain to me what he’s doing?

I haven’t posted any photo’s of Eddie in an age, we went on a walk in Derbyshire that was very pleasant indeed.

The walk started at the Druids Inn, or at least I think that was what the pub/restaurant is called, its a swanky place which has recently been taken over the same guy who runs the Thyme restaurant in Sheffield, if the nosh is only even half as good as Thyme it would be well worth checking out, and you couldn’t possibly ask for more idelic surroundings.

There were some Bronze Age stones laid out in a circler manor half through the walk, possibly meant to be the highlight but it just looked like some weathered stones to me, still you do get the eerie feeling that some witchcraft had taken place and Eddie seemed right in there.

More Derbyshire pr0n. Speaking of Eddie, he’s got some mysterious growth in between the pads of one of his paws and he gets vicious if you fiddle with it, I think it might be a blister, but it’s most unlike any blister i’ve ever had. Still, I think I’d have weird growths on my feet if I walked everywhere bare-foot. It’s his own silly fault for being a dog.

Must write this before i forget, or am too tired. Been missing a lot of blog days recently.

Went to see The Dresden Dolls last Sunday at the good old leadmill. Went with an old college friend i hadn’t seen other than online for years. So that was fun. Quite an interesting band live, they both seem really into their shows and don’t treat touring like a chore. 2 Eventful moments; the pianist/singer woman came on to sing a rufus wainwright number with the support band whilst grasping a bunch of celery, which she hurled at us and one hit me. Bitch. lol And Towards the end the bowler hatted, Pierrot face painted freaky drummer dude hurt his wee wrist and didn’t return for the encore. Haha, imagine the embarrassment of a drummer hurting their wrist. Gotta say despite the wrist issue he’s probably one of the best drummers i’ve seen play live, really impressed me.

Tomorrow, Eddies balls.

Last night I went to see the Mighty Boosh perform at the city hall. It was a marvellous spectacle. Like a scattergun of obscenely silly happenings, they were putting it out there. So much so that I really dunno where to begin, so I probably won’t. Vince Noir was chased around the auditorium by a giant rabbit, who went on to rape him. I think that’s all you need to know. Oh and Howard Moon has become a bit of an expert in mime. huh, the audience was full of students, many of whom seemed to have big bushy castro beards. Is this the fashion with students now?

Some things annoying me right now. When Americans attempt British accents they always sound Australian, why is this? Eddie keeps leaving doors wide open, letting the warm air out. It’s freezing cold. Several dusty Dutchmen have dirty diamonds hanging from their dapper dungarees, I fear.

I’m going to be moaning again today, i still feel like shite and it gets worse. Last night I was playing with Eddie and I had lay down on the floor so that eddie could trample on me (don’t ask why) and he did and he stuck his paw right on my left eye, I didn’t flinch away fast enough and it hurt like hell. I figured ah well, it’ll go off but I hasn’t and i awoke this morning with quite a pain in my eye and as the day has worn on it become increasing apparent that my left eye has gone a bit blurry and it has gone very photo-sensitive. So now i’m worried as hell that there’s some perminant damage. Fuck sake, it’s all I need.

Now for sudden change of tact. Cool! I just this second as I was moaning above recieved this email…

The replacement part for your iBook has arrived. If you want to bring the machine in at your convienence to the AppleStore Meadowhall.

Awesome! And now I don’t have to answer the phone too! Hmm, my tummy is making some damn strange sounds. Oh yeah, as part of Eddie’s training, every day we have to tie him up nearby whilst we get on with something quiet such as reading a book and all the whilst ignoring him. Fun eh? It’s so that he gets used to settling down when in company. To be honest Eddie is pretty good at settling down anyway, but i suppose we ought to do it. It’s homework, so i’m doing it right now, he has dozed off by my feet whilst i tap away on the iBook. I’m not sure whether or not i’m allowed to look at his sleeping cuteness, does looking count as interaction?

I’m not at all sure why i have done this, but here is the route of Eddie’s favourite walk.

The route on the left hand side going through the woods is kinda guessed and the whole thing takes about an hour and a half.

I’ve been messing with tags again today, removing the more pointless ones from entries and removing spaces from those with multiple words. Also, strangely it seems that MT-Tags does actually add keywords as a sub-catagory of “tags”, even though when I first installed it I ended up with a million and 1 primary catagories. So i’ve tidied that up now and I feel a lot better for it.

So yeah, I was playing with my tag cloud thing and randomly clicked on one of the technorati links, one that took me to http://www.technorati.com/tag/meadowhall and ooh, all of them but 1 are mine. No wait, I don’t remember ever calling my blog after my real name “Mark Gilbert”, so what’s this. OMG, what are the chances of that, a name-sake also blogging about meadowhall. Wait, even more OMG, he lives in sheffield, and he blogs about similar things as I do. Have I got a split personality? Am I running 2 blogs and neither personalities know of each others? I’m scared. Funnily enough my other blog isn’t half bad, think I’ll subscribe and keep up with what my split personality is getting up to. He must quite like my name, i mean his name, mine his um, the name to have bought the domain. Myself, I hate it, but that’s probably a low self-esteem thing. I wonder if we’ve ever bumped into each other.
