SebastianThat’s what i see on the boot camp menu now, haha. OMG, I so should have made it an “I’m with stupid->” badge, ack too late now, can’t be bothered enough. Why do I always think of these things after the event?

Parallels doesn’t feel quite as revolutionary as I had hoped, I would prefer more of a wine like solution, so that running a windows app is rather like running an X11 one. Parallels is essentially the same as running VMWare on a PC. The great advantage though is its support for Intel’s virtualization technology, what I’ve noticed is that the Virtual machine doesn’t hog 100% of the idle time of the cpu. When I’ve run VMWare on the PC the cpu in the host OS has been at 100% constantly, causing the poor thing to get hot and the fans to get noisy. With this virtualisation doo-dad the VM only seems to use the cycles it needs, so if the guest OS is sitting around doing nothing, the idle time is correctly delegated, so the CPU doesn’t get needlessly overworked and mac os will carry on at a good speed, albeit with a fair amount of memory being used up.

The ecto guy seems to keep apologising for there not being a universal binary yet, poor guy’s been in the wars it seems.

Speaking of universalities. When I first tried to download a torrent on here I tried azureus as it’s the devil I know. Theres a build that’s supposedly intel friendly but I’ll be buggered if I can get it to work. It just bounces on the dock a few times and pisses off with no messages. Mac OS as far as I can tell is always up-to-date with the latest java so there’s not much can go wrong on that front. Then I tried the official bit-torrent client. Things have changed some-what since I last tried the official app. It now has a queue and upload limits and all that you hope for. Unfortunately its PPC and although it works without a hitch it does sit there hogging upwards of 30% cpu time occasionally, which isn’t much good for a tiny app open for long periods of time.

Anyway, now I’ve found Transmission all is right with the world. It was listed at the Open source mac site. I should have checked there in the beginning shouldn’t I.

Woohoo, so should arrive on Tuesday then. Wonder what it’s doing right now, hope it isn’t too lonely. Just had a peep on futuremarks 3dMark ‘06 result browser and hey presto, there’s already a benchmarked iMac Core Duo 20″ on there, a couple in fact. Seems it’s hitting a score of around 1707. But guess what? My PC only gets 1350! I was expecting the iMac to score slightly less than my current PC so this is great news, should play games perfectly respectably. It really is going to be an all round perfect machine :-)

I can’t wait, this is unfair. Waiting is unfair. I think i might go to bed and sleep until Tuesday. Shame i haven’t got any pills to knock me out. Gosh I’m a bit late why my song podcast this week. I’m not in the mood to post it haha.
