This is England
This is the age of software trying to update itself regulatory in a way that is un-obtrusive but not quite managing it.
Yesterday I go see This is England, a film about skin’eds in the thatcher 80’s. How the scene wasn’t necessarily about racism, but how it got swept up, naively. There are a lot of messages to take from it, but above all it was just a freaking immersive piece of work with acting that completely blew me away.
It’s also the second film Shane Meadows has made with help from Warp Films, a fairly recent offshoot of Warp Records, who I’ve probably mentioned tons of times on here, but the basics is that they started out in Sheffield as a simple record shop down Devonshire Green way. I guess I feel a bit of Sheffield pride there, which is ironic considering the films message.
Warp Films have also set up Warp X. A pure digital film production unit right here in sheffield for film makers on a tight budget. It’s pretty cool because they have funding from channel 4 / fourfilms, and any film made there will get first digs for TV broadcast on C4. Amd from the looks of their mission statement it might be just the thing to kick the Britsh film industry into action.
Hmm, my WP spellchecker hasn’t worked since my site was restored.
